Caley squad bolstered as Terry Butcher signs Gregory Tade

INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle have signed striker Gregory Tade as manager Terry Butcher bolsters his squad ahead of the new season.

The 24-year-old Frenchman joins the Highland outfit on a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. Tade has been a huge hit at Raith Rovers and was linked with a host of other Premier League clubs, including Hibernian and St Johnstone. Newly-promoted Dunfermline, who were also chasing Tade, have lost their battle to retain Calum Woods after he completed his move to Huddersfield. Manager Jim McIntyre had hoped to convince the right-back to remain at East End Park next season. But the 24-year-old free agent penned a two-year-deal with the English League One side after passing a medical.

Woods told Huddersfield's website: "I first heard that Huddersfield were interested in me a while ago, my agent mentioned to me that there could be a possibility of them looking to sign me. However, it was only really last week when everything moved very quickly and they confirmed that they wanted to sign me. I received quite a lot of interest from other clubs, my contract at Dunfermline was up and I was a free agent. As soon as I heard that Huddersfield were interested in me I knew where I wanted to go."

Meawnhile, former St Mirren manager Gus McPherson has emerged as the favourite to take over at First Division Queen of the South after being interviewed for the job on Tuesday.
