Cairngorm final looming large

SKIING: Robert Gordon’s College, Mearns Castle High School and Bearsden Academy are among the qualifiers for the inaugural final of the Snowsport Scotland Alpine Schools’ Race Series.

The first three rounds of qualifying have been staged at Glenshee Ski Centre, the Nevis Range and Glencoe Mountain and the fourth is at the Lecht on Thursday before the grand final at Cairngorm on 15 March.

“We had entries from over 400 secondary and primary schools, including a lot new to skiing,” said organiser Iain Ramsay-Clapham. “The Series is split into red and blue categories for experienced and recreational skiers so everyone has a chance.”
