Tragic boxer Mike Towell's partner: He had seizure months before death

The partner of Mike Towell saw him having a seizure in May 2016, months before he died after a fight, the fatal accident inquiry heard.

Chloe Ross, 26, said her boyfriend woke up during the night “vibrating” and bit his tongue during the episode.

She was asked if she knew what was happening and said: “I assumed it was a seizure but I have never seen one before.”

Miss Ross - the mum of Mike’s son Rocco - told the inquiry: “I jumped out the bed and shouted on him but he didn’t respond.

“I had phoned an ambulance at that point.”

She was asked what Mike did and said: “He came out of the seizure and went back to sleep.”

Miss Ross said she asked Mike to go with paramedics and after initially saying no, did go with them and she stayed at home with their son.

She phoned MIke’s mum Tracey who went to meet him at hospital.

The inquiry heard about a sparring session in Edinburgh at the end of July 2016, when Mike wasn’t happy after going up against three separate fighters who did three rounds each but he did all eight.

Miss Ross said: “I would say he started getting sore heads from then. I didn’t realise it then but looking back it would be about from then.”

She said he took paracetamol for the headaches but she found she was buying a lot.

She told the inquiry she said to Mike it was “not normal” to take it every day.

The mum-of-one recalled after Mike went to hospital in September 2016 with severe head pain he was given cocodamol and told it was a migraine.

She said he was sick during the night after he returned home and she looked up his symptoms on the internet and it matched that of migraines.

Miss Ross said the week of his fight Mike commented he was feeling good she said he was “actually hitting himself” and told her he felt great.
