Jose Ocampo pulls out of title tilt against Ricky Burns

SCOTLAND’S Ricky Burns will be fighting in London on Saturday but not against Jose Ocampo after the 23-year-old Filipino pulled out of their WBO lightweight title fight.

The Coatbridge champion was due to make the third defence of his belt against the fighter ranked 14th in the world, who was himself a late stand-in for Liam Walsh, who was injured in a car crash. However, it has been confirmed to promoter Frank Warren that Ocampo has also dropped out of the bout at the ExCel Arena although the reason is not yet clear.

A spokesman for Warren said: “Ricky will still be fighting on the show as planned and we are looking for a replacement now.”

The 29-year-old’s last outing was a fourth-round stoppage of Kevin Mitchell at Glasgow’s SECC in September
