Boxing: Ricky Hatton’s brother Matthew quits
Former European welterweight champion Matthew Hatton has announced his retirement from boxing.
The younger brother of former world champion Ricky last fought in March in a unanimous points defeat by Chris van Heerden in South Africa. Hatton won the European title in March 2010 and defended it twice before moving up to make a failed bid for the WBC light-middleweight title against Saul Alvarez.
Hatton, 32, said: “I’ve come out of the sport with no real damage done and I’m extremely grateful for that.”
