Boxing: Points wins for city trio

EDINBURGH fighters enjoyed success on the undercard of Willie Limond’s unsuccessful British lightweight title bid against Anthony Crolla at Ravenscraig Sports Centre.

Welterweight Gary McMillan had a six-round points win over London-based Peter McDonough and is now eyeing a rematch with Paisley’s Kevin McIntyre, who beat him at Meadowbank in August.

Light-middleweight John Thain overcame a sluggish first-round showing to beat Scunthorpe’s Steve Spence, while Edinburgh cruiserweight Steve Simmons enjoyed a 60-55 points victory over late substitute opponent John Anthony.
