Boxing: Sweet debut for Vincent

CLOVENSTONE Boxing Club heavyweight Kevin Vincent made his ring debut for a Scottish select against a Cyprus select at Glenrothes and notched up a points win over Andreas Thoma.

The 25-year-old contributed to a narrow 3-2 win following the Scottish team's 4-1 win in the first leg, also at Glenrothes.

Equally impressive was Leith Victoria light-middleweight and third year medical student, Ally Hardie, who celebrated becoming the British and Irish Universities 11 stone champion in Aberdeen last week by outpointing his Cypriot opponent, Kiaraiakos Vainko, to tie the Scots team at 2-2 with the Cyprus squad.

Meanwhile, in a support bout, Leith Victoria middleweight Steve Shields was beaten on points by Fauldhouse rival Lewis Akinlami in a closely contested tussle.
