Boxing: Stemp on a mission in paid debut

Edinburgh's former Scottish amateur bantamweight champion Gareth Stemp will make his professional debut on Friday, October 29 in Glasgow's Central Hotel against Ryan McNichol.

McNichol was recently outpointed by Stemp's Capital bantamweight rival Dave Cowan on the latter's pro debut.

Admitted Stemp: "Ever since I wrongly forecast that McNichol would stop Cowan on Cowan's pro debut in Glenrothes earlier this year there has been a far bit of needle between Dave Cowan and I so I aim to try to beat McNichol even more impressively than Cowan did."

Meanwhile, Craigmillar's Scottish light-welterweight champion, Jason Easton, has granted Polish 64kg champion Marek Leskovski an early return tomorrow at Bannockburn after the Polish man demanded a return after losing closely in Tranent two weeks ago.

Champion Easton will be joined on the same Bannockburn bill by clubmates Brodie Robertson, who trades punches with Fifer Fraser Gorn and James John Bruce who boxes a selected opponent.
