Boxing: Snow is an 'omen' for Burns' rival Evensen

WBO super-featherweight title challenger Andreas Evensen insists he will feel right at home when he arrives in snow-swept Scotland.

The Norway-based Colombian takes on champion Ricky Burns at the Braehead Arena on Saturday night and was due to touch down last night.

As part of his training, Burns has been forced to run in the snow but Evensen claims adverse weather conditions are nothing unusual for him. He said: "I was born in heat of Colombia but I have been made into a man in the cold of Norway."

"I don't know why Burns is complaining about the snow. Scotland has had a sprinkling compared to what we get in Norway. When it's bad I have to shovel through six feet of snow just to get my car off the drive so I can go to the gym. That certainly gets your muscles working first thing in the morning.

The 27-year-old added: "When I saw there was snow in Scotland it was like an omen, as if the boxing Gods were saying 'It's your time now'."
