Boxing: Same again for Cowan

Capital bantamweight ace Dave Cowan repeated a previous points win over 100-bout Walsall-based ring veteran Delroy Spencer in Aberdeen with an identical 58-56 points margin.

However, Cowan's coach Mark Geraghty opined post-fight: "Even though referee Kenny Pringle's scorecard tally was identical to the points margin of their first fight, this was a much more rounded and comprehensive performance by Cowan."

Meanwhile, a triumphant Cowan said: "Now I'll be asking my manager, Tommy Gilmour, to match me with Sheffield switch hitter Adil Anwar and other opponents so I can notch up wins aimed at getting me up the British title ratings to leading contender status."

Edinburgh's newest pro cruiserweight, former Leith Victoria heavyweight Steve Simmons, will make his pro debut at Braehead Arena on March 12 against Londoner Nick Okoth.
