Boxing: Ryan ready to bounce back

Clovenstone's recently-crowned eastern featherweight champion Ryan McCutcheon will spearhead the Capital ring contribution to this weekend's Scottish select v Cyprus select boxing clash in Glenrothes.

McCutcheon is eager to make amends for a shock points loss in Haddington two weeks ago by defeating Cypriot opponent Pauolos Katsidis.

His coach Rab McEwan said: "Ryan's eager to put that defeat behind him when he takes on Katsidis in tonight's fight. It's about which should hopefully sharpen him up.

"I'm also hopeful that my Polish lightheavyweight Pievan Khasrovpar will do well on Sunday against Tranent Bronx's Steven Lindsay."

With the Scottish Senior and Youth championships at Coatbridge just over a week away on February 26-27, the Glenrothes bouts will be closely studied as a form indicator.

Tonight's action takes place at the Gilvenbank Hotel and starts at 9pm while the Pinkerton club hosts Sunday's bouts from 3pm.
