Boxing: McEwan has offer from Russia with gloves

Edinburgh's middleweight prospect Craig McEwan has been been told he is in the frame to challenge for Dmitry Pirog's WBO middleweight belt.

Russian boxer Pirog's management team have agreed "in principle" to Los Angeles-based McEwan challenging their man in 2011.

McEwan's UK spokesman Stewart Dredge confirmed: "Craig only fought twice in 2010 in the USA and is very frustrated about that situation but his manager Billy Keane and Golden Boy Promotions have told him that the WBO title challenge against Pirog is likely to happen next year."

Meanwhile, Lochend's Kevin Skey has been selected to box for Scotland against England this Saturday at the Coatbridge Time Capsule.
