Boxing: Kenny Anderson never better

KENNY ANDERSON will be in the best shape of his life to face Liverpool's Tony Quigley.

Edinburgh's leading contender for the British super-middleweight title has just completed two intense weeks of sparring with world-rated Cuban light-heavyweight, Luis Garcia, in Cork, Ireland.

Anderson is set to take on Quigley in an eliminator for the British title with purse bids to be announced this weekend.

Garcia has won all his eight of his professional fights and was a world renowned amateur before an Irish consortium took him to Cork.

Anderson's coach, Kevin Maree, said: "Truthfully, we weren't happy with Kenny's last ring performance in January in Glasgow, even though he won on points against Patrick Mendy. But I can guarantee fans that, after watching Kenny push Garcia over the last two weeks in sparring, that he will be a revelation against Quigley in October."

Anderson added: "I have never been better prepared or sharper than I am now as a result of these sessions with Garcia."
