Boxing: Jennings remains defiant

MICHAEL JENNINGS claimed there was plenty of boxing left in him despite his brave defeat to Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

Former British champion Jennings, 31, came away from a fifth-round stoppage by the Puerto Rican with his head held high after his bid for the vacant WBO welterweight title was halted by a man already two-time champion in the division.

"I've never been hurt before and I've never been stopped before and fair play to him, he caught me with a good shot," Jennings, from Chorley, said.

"I just want to carry on boxing, whatever they've got for me next. Obviously I'm not going to pack up after this. I've just been beaten by one of the best in the world."
