Boxing: Arthur close to joining up with Warren

ALEX ARTHUR today expects to receive clarification of promoter Frank Warren's proposed terms for him to box on the undercard of the Ricky Burns v Ricardo Martinez world title joust at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall on 4 September.

Arthur, now fighting at lightweight, confirmed: "We've been told that a draft contractual outline of Frank Warren's proposals for me to link up with him again will be in my hands via email today.

"One way Frank could guarantee my signature (which would see Arthur rejoin Warren's stable of boxers) would be if he could ensure that my next bout was a ten-rounder for an International title.

"A six or eight round fight on that bill doesn't really excite me at all.

"I held IBF, WBO and WBA Intercontinental titles at superfeatherweight at various stages in my career so fixing me up with a similar continental title fight at lightweight should be straightforward.

"I have great confidence in Frank's negotiating skills to make fights happen so I'll be studying the new draft contract with great interest."
