Boxing: Anderson will return to the boxing fray against Wild

Edinburgh super-middleweight title contender Kenny Anderson will box Sheffield light-heavyweight Carl Wild at the Municipal Hall, Colne, Lancashire next Friday, May 20.

It will be the 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallist's first bout since November when he gave London-based George Groves a fright by decking him before eventually losing the Commonwealth championship bout.

Anderson, who has left Ricky Hatton's 'Hatton Promotions' group and will now be promoted by his manager Steve Woods, said: "I'm looking forward to getting in there and putting on a good performance."

WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has praised Anderson after sparring with him ahead of his fight with Glen Johnson on June 4, saying: "Anderson is a very tough fighter who doesn't stop coming. I sparred with him last week and I was nursing a bad rib cage afterwards."

Elsewhere, Alloa's Darren Reid has pulled out of his return grudge match with Lochend middleweight Tommy Philbin at Alloa Town Hall tonight due to illness. Philbin will box substitute Robbie McKeat, from Fauldhouse, on the host club's show. Philbin has also seen Renfrew's Aston Brown pulled out of their bout in Paisley on May 20 and will now face Scottish middleweight champ Brian Peacock.
