Boxing: Ambitious Cowan sets his sights on Spencer at Scotstoun

CAPITAL pro featherweight Davie Cowan looks to keep his unbeaten tag in the pro ranks alive tonight at Scotstoun Sports Centre in Glasgow by seeing off the challenge of Walsall's veteran of over 100 paid bouts, Delroy Spencer, who has never beaten a Scottish opponent in six attempts.

This is something former Queensferry amateur star Cowan, who won his pro debut in Glenrothes earlier this year when outpointing Glaswegian Ryan McNichol, aims to keep unchanged.

Said Cowan: "My ring cornerman Mark Geraghty and I know what to expect from Spencer, who is a crafty old pro who will be a good learning fight for me over six rounds. Not many people stop Spencer and I'll be content to do the same by outboxing him.''

Coach Geraghty added: "Although Spencer has had over 100 pro fights to Cowan's two, Davie will still win.''
