Bowls: Bashed Tattie

Mervyn King edged out Tranent's Alex Marshall to win the Wyldecrest Park Homes Premier League bowls title in Cyprus.

The 44-year-old Englishman won the trophy after beating five-times former world champion 'Tattie' in a one-end tie-break after the pair had won one set each in the regular match.

The key moment came with the first bowl of the tie-break as King nailed the jack, which remained decisive after two near-misses from Marshall.

King won 10,000 for his success at the Athena Beach Hotel in Paphos.
