Boroughmuir 41 - 21 West of Scotland: Muir have a ball but defence needs focus
Overall, the game produced ten tries and a 7-3 balance for Boroughmuir. But if the Meggetland men are to fulfil championship ambitions this season, a greater focus in defence will be necessary. For all their attacking panache, Muir led by only 10-0 at half time with a driven line-out score for Derek O'Riordan and then a try for Stephen Ruddick from Malcolm Clapperton's chip ahead.
Boroughmuir were quickly into their stride in the second half as replacement Freddie Lait, playing his final match for the Meggetland club plunged over. This time Ally Warnock converted but the stand-off failed to add the extra points to the bonus try by Tom Bury engineered by Clapperton.

Hide AdWest then chalked up a try by livewire scrum half Alexander Fisken converted by Alasdair Stevenson who also goaled successfully after tries for West by classy centre Richard Dalgleish and prop Elliott McLaren.
But in between Muir had added tries by their powerhouse flanker James Doubleday and Ruddick converted by Harry Leonard who then had the final say by making Ross Samson's final effort a seven pointer.
