Boroughmuir 28 - 31 Dundee HSFP: Rankin proud of Dundee

Ian Rankin’s body language spoke volumes at the end as the Dundee coach punched the air and high-fived fans after what turned out to be a thrilling match in splendid conditions.

He also expressed his pride as his team closed the gap on leaders Melrose, though they had to come from behind to do so.

“The players deserve a lot of credit. There is a belief in this group of players. The win was what this was all about. Now we’ve given ourselves a chance,” he said.

Boroughmuir contributed in spades to a compelling encounter in which each side notched four tries, the lead changing hands several times. Redha Guedroudj, Sep Visser, Mark Hare and Jordan Webster all breached the Dundee defence, Ally Warnock proving as reliable as ever with the boot as he converted the lot. The visitors, however, edged the contest with touchdowns by Simon Forrest (2), Cam Wyper and Danny Levison, only one of which was converted by Jack Steele, though the centre did nudge over three penalties.
