Boroughmuir 19 - 13 Hawick: Warnock's penalties push Boroughmuir to victory

ALLY Warnock was the match winner at Meggetland as he banged over four penalties and a conversion, but Hawick won the try-count 2-1 and probably deserved more than a losing bonus point.

Boroughmuir turned round 16-8 ahead after a scrappy first half, which saw the boot of Warnock being the difference between the sides. Neil Renwick and Warnock shared early penalties before Sean Crombie took a strike against the head and Daniel Landels saved the day before Warnock stretched the lead.

Hawick battled hard and scored the opening try when Steven Anderson broke clear on the left from Gary Johnstone's break.

Boroughmuir were soon back in the ascendancy and were back in front when Warnock landed his third goal.

And five minutes from half-time, Warnock, Malcolm Clapperton and Jordan Webster combined to send Tony Bury over and Warnock converted.

Rory Hutton then broke through from the 22 for a score, but Renwick failed to convert.

Warnock added a penalty later on, sealing victory.
