Boro eye George Boyd

PETERBOROUGH captain George Boyd – who won a Scotland B cap against Northern Ireland last year – is wanted by Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan.

Boyd, who has 12 goals to his name this season, was subject of an enquiry from Boro in the January transfer window but it was rejected in order to give bottom club Posh the best chance of staying in the Championship.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry said: "We are still in touch with Middlesbrough about him, but I'd be surprised if he left while it is still mathematically possible for us to stay up."
