Bonnyrigg players told to forget another feast

BONNYRIGG ROSE boss Alan Miller admits his team will be hard pushed to hit double figures for the third time this season when they entertain Armadale Thistle in the second round of the Fife & Lothians Cup tomorrow.

After hammering Aberdeenshire minnows Maud 12-0 in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup earlier in the season, Miller's men hit the goal trail again last weekend when they won 11-1 against Harthill Royal in the East of Scotland Cup.

"This will be a different game this week," said Miller. "Armadale beat Penicuik 3-1 last Saturday while they also held Linlithgow to a 4-4 draw in the League Cup earlier in the season.

"They've got the Johnstone brothers, Ryan and Lee, in their team and I know all about them from my time at Edinburgh United. Indeed, they went with Jim Henderson when he moved from Harthill to Armadale."

Bonnyrigg's latest signing, Craig O'Reilly, scored a hat-trick on his debut in the rout of Harthill and Miller has high hopes for the 22-year-old, who started his career at Raith Rovers and had spells at Dundee, East Fife and Clyde before arriving at Stenhousemuir.

"We are delighted to have Craig on board and, in addition to being a goalscorer, I think he's the player we've been looking for who can link with the midfield and hold play up for us," added the manager.

"Kevin McLeish also started his first game for us in the win over Harthill and he's like having another new signing.

"We need to find some consistency so that we can kick on in the second part of the season and we want to do as well as we can in both this competition and the East of Scotland Cup."

In other Fife & Lothians Cup ties tomorrow, Dalkeith are at home to Kirkcaldy YM, Whitburn entertain Thornton, Tranent take on Blackburn while Spartans have home advantage against Broxburn.

Spartans beat Edinburgh United 4-3 in a thrilling South Division game under the Ainslie Park floodlights earlier this week.

After going two behind within the first 30 minutes, David Cowan's side claimed the three points in a South Division match thanks to goals from Adam Perry (2), Kenny Young and Andrew Cruickshank.
