Bolton Wanderers 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur: Coyle frustrated as Spurs force replay

BOLTON manager Owen Coyle felt his side should have sent Spurs out of the FA Cup at the first time of asking in what was an exhilarating fifth-round tie.

It was a view not shared by the visitors' assistant manager Joe Jordan who felt Tottenham's second-half showing, which included a missed penalty, should have been enough to see them progress to the last eight.

Wanderers were certainly the superior side for an hour and opened the scoring in the 34th minute when a flowing 16-pass move started by goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen culminated in Kevin Davies scoring from 12 yards. However, Jermain Defoe's clinical finish in 61 minutes put his side on level terms before Tom Huddlestone failed from the spot, sending the match to a replay.

Bolton created four decent openings in the opening quarter of an hour and should have had a comfortable cushion before Spurs levelled.

Coyle said: "If we had come in at half-time with a bigger lead no-one would have thought it was unjust. The players will tell you I had a blast at them at full-time because I believe we should have done enough earlier on to have won the game. We are still in the draw for the next round, though, and who's to say we can't win the replay?"

Jordan said: "In the second half we got ourselves sorted out and we should have come away with a victory, no question."
