Bobo Balde withdraws his claims against Celtic

FORMER Celtic player Bobo Balde has withdrawn claims the club breached his contract.

The French-born defender, who left Parkhead at the end of his contract last summer, had also lodged the claim over alleged non-payment of wages.

However, yesterday a judgment issued by the Employment Tribunal Office in Glasgow said the player had put an end to the matter.

The document stated "the claim was withdrawn by the claimant", though no explanation was given as to why.

Balde, 34, signed for Celtic in 2001, and was speculated to be earning around 30,000 a week. He was part of the team that reached the Uefa Cup final in 2003. But in the latter part of his career, he only made a handful of appearances after a well- documented fallout with the club. He now plays for French team Valenciennes FC.
