Bob MacIntyre secures another Tour Championship trip in style
Scot produces best closing round in BMW Championship to jump into top 30 in FedEx Cup points list
Bob MacIntyre will be teeing up in the PGA Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship for the third year in a row after securing his place in the 30-man field in style.
The Oban man signed off with a five-under-par 65 - the best round of the day - in the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St Louis to finish joint-seventh behind US Open champion Wyndham Clark.

The brilliant effort lifted MacIntyre from 36th spot in the FedEx Cup points list to 25th, securing another trip to East Lake in Atlanta in the process for this week’s season finale.
“It's great,” admitted the two-time Ryder Cup player. “It's good to extend the season on the PGA Tour an extra week.”
Sitting joint-15th after 54 holes, MacIntyre headed into the closing season circuit needing a low one, which he produced thanks to a six-birdie last-day salvo.
“Satisfying round of golf today,” he added. “It was absolutely beautiful. A bit disappointed with the bogey I made, but Mike [Burrow, his caddie] just kept telling me, ‘there's going to be plenty of chances the way you're playing’.
“And the way I was shaping into some of the pins, hitting good distances. But, yeah, just to score the way I've scored in the time that I needed it.”
MacIntyre had been disappointed not to tie down his Tour Championship spot when he had to settle for a tie for third in the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club last month.
He then found himself outside the top 30 after being forced to withdraw from the FedEx St Jude Championship - the first Play-Off event - after an opening 82 due to a knee injury.
“Yeah, I've got a Baker's cyst in the back of my right knee,” he said of that at the end of his week in St Louis. “I've got that from playing shinty back home, to be honest.
“I didn't know what it was. I've been getting serious pain when I squat down to read a putt and after a long day's practice session. The way I've been playing lately I've been putting in long hours and just struggling to explode out of it and twist on it at the same time.
“I think it was Thursday afternoon, it was like someone was stabbing me in the bottom of the hamstring. So the boys in the truck there have done a great job this week getting me feeling like I can play. So, yeah, can't thank them enough.”
Clark finished with three straight birdies after he’d given away a five-shot lead to land a second big win this summer following his US Open triumph at Shinnecock Hills in June.
He’s up to third on the FedEx Cup points list behind Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick heading to East Lake.
