Bob Hope Classic set for Monday finish

PGA Tour officials are planning for a Monday finish at the Bob Hope Classic after second-round play was delayed further in California yesterday. Record rainfall in the Palm Springs area this week has seen the four desert courses in use for the five-round pro-am event saturated.

Heavy showers on Tuesday, Wednesday night and all day Thursday put paid to hopes of playing the second round on Thursday – the first rain delay at the tournament since 1980.

The start of the second round was pushed back again by 90 minutes yesterday to 7pm UK time, with organisers now expecting the fifth and final round to be completed on Monday.
