Blues owner assists police

Birmingham owner Carson Yeung is assisting police in Hong Kong in relation to criminal investigations in his homeland, but Blues insist the matter is not connected to the club's holding company.

City's acting chairman, Peter Pannu, says the inquiries have "nothing to do" with the club's holding company, Birmingham International Holdings, whose shares are floated on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Yeung bought a 29.9 per cent stake in City four years ago and took full control of Blues midway through the 2009-2010 season in an 81million takeover.

Birmingham, in a statement, said: "Peter Pannu wishes to inform the public that Carson Yeung is assisting the police in Hong Kong in relation to certain criminal investigations which at this stage he believes do not have any connection to the operation of the parent company or any of its subsidiaries."
