Biggest win of season so far for Ellon over Alloa

Ellon head coach Craig Parslow was happy to see his team record their biggest win of the season but says there is still room for improvement.

The Meadows side were 60-33 winners over Alloa at home on Saturday, a result which sees them move up to fourth spot in Tennent’s Caledonia Division 1.

“There were a lot of positives to take from the game but there are still some things we need to work on,” said Parslow.

“The guys took their foot off the gas in the second half when they should have applied more pressure but they understand what they should have done and it’s something they will take forward into the next set of games.

“We’re looking to develop and improve week in week out and we’re doing that at the
moment.

“The guys are really working hard and pushing themselves and I think our position justifies the effort they are putting in.

“This result shows how far we have come since the first game of the season where
Alloa narrowly beat us on their patch.”

Ellon now have a break from league duties as they turn their attention to the Caledonia Regional Shield, where they will make the trip to Blairgowrie on Saturday
November 17.

The Perthshire side currently sit top of Caledonia Midlands Division 2 and have won all eight of their league fixtures this season.

They won 44-25 at Mackie Academy in the first round of the Shield to get to this stage.

“I don’t really know too much about them but we’re expecting a tough game,” said Parslow.

“What we’re going to focus on is what we can do, our
attacking and defensive structure.

“Our focus is on the league this season and this game is more about keeping up our level of performance.”
