Benjelloun makes Greuther Furth next stop after Hibs

STRIKER Abdessalam Benjelloun has quickly found a club after leaving Hibernian after joining German club Greuther Furth.

The Morocco international was one of five senior players released from Easter Road last Friday after his contract expired.

Benjelloun, 25, has now signed a two-year deal with second division Furth, with the option of an extra season.

He was brought in by the Bavarian club's director of football Rachid Azzouzi, himself a former Moroccan international.

Benji spent four seasons at Easter Road, and became the hero of Hibs' 2007 CIS Cup final triumph when he scored two goals in a 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock. However he now faces a battle to play in Germany's elite Bundesliga.

Modest Furth, whose current incarnation only began in 1996 after a merger, are based just outside Nuremburg, finished last season 11th in the 18- team second division – and 23 points adrift of Bundesliga 2 champions Kaiserslautern.

Nicknamed the Kleebltter (Cloverleaves), the club play in a green-and-white hooped strip very similar to that of Celtic.
