Ben Crane takes share of the lead after flawless 64

American Ben Crane posted the best score of the day to move into a share of the lead at the CMB Asia Pacific Classic at Mines Resort and Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.

The 34-year-old fired seven birdies and did not drop a shot en route to a seven-under-par second round of 64 to join Pariya Junhasavasdikul on 11 under par at the top of the leaderboard.

"I got off to a fast start. I hit a nice wedge shot to about three feet for birdie on the first hole and that always feels good and frees you up a little bit," said Crane.

"I really did well not to think about results and I didn't even know what I shot until I was done but I knew it was something good because I played well all day."

Five birdies in his last seven holes saw Pariya sign for a 65 but the 26-year-old Thai insisted his thoughts were not on the title and a potential pay day of $1million.

"I'm not thinking about the money. I'm just thinking about the lessons I can learn from these guys. Hopefully, I can step up to the challenge and play like them," said Pariya.

"My putting is co-operating very much and my ball striking has been good. If your putting is up there, you're not far off the lead. We've been working on finding consistency in the game and that's been a reason for my form this year."

The duo lead Ricky Barnes and Ryan Moore by a stroke at the halfway stage.

Overnight leader Barnes added a 69 to his opening 64 while Moore carded a 68.

Swede Carl Petterson lies fifth on nine under par while Luke Donald and Adam Scott both moved into contention on eight under following rounds of 67 and 65 respectively. Scotland's Martin Laird is a shot further back after shooting 69.
