Becca and Buchan boost GB

BECCA Allison (Edinburgh Kool Kats) and Marie Buchan (Falkirk Fury) continue to enjoy key roles for Great Britain's Women's Under-20 basketball team who are still unbeaten after three games and top their group in the Euro B Championship in Macedonia.

Their latest triumph was a 70-69 win last night over the hosts in Kavadarci, with Buchan top-scoring with 17 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes on court and Allison coming off the bench to put in a 25-minute stint in which she scored eight points.

Team GB beat Hungary 54-50 in their previous game on Saturday, another tremendous result, and are now certain to reach the quarter-finals of the knock-out stages.

GB men's under-20 side won 73-52 over Belgium in Gussing, Austria and now have a two-one win-loss record in their Euro B group, but sole Scot Ali MacKay (Edinburgh Kings) only had a token three minutes on court. Great Britain senior women, with Edinburgh Kool Kat Rose Anderson the only Scot, beat Portugal 72-50 at Guildford.
