The Polish striker was taken off in the first half of Bayern’s 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga clash on Saturday after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury.

But the striker was not part of the travelling party who left Germany on Monday morning, with the club confirming: “Kingsley Coman is on board as Bayern begin their journey to Glasgow, but Lewandowski stays behind.”
Lewandowski’s injury will force Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes to reshuffle his attacking options, although he doesn’t have the depth up front that he has in other positions.
Sport Bild quoted Lewandowski as saying at the weekend: “This season, it’s really hard for me - I have played for Bayern and the national team every three days from the beginning.

Heynckes could deploy Thomas Muller in the lone striker role of his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, and can call on Coman, Arturo Vidal, Arjen Robben, James Rodriguez and Corentin Tolisso to form his attacking midfield trio.
