Battle lines drawn for women’s trophy

BOWLS: The last of this season’s national indoor championships will be decided at Ardrossan today with either Coatbridge or Turriff becoming the first recipient of the Marilyn Ferguson Trophy as the inaugural Women’s Scottish Cup winners.

After a bye in the first round, Coatbridge made it to the final at the expense of Dumbarton, West of Scotland and Blantyre while Turriff saw off Inverness in the prelims, followed by Elgin, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen and Abbeyview to set up their tilt at the title. Played to the same 21-end format as the men’s event the draw lines up skip Carole Condy against Liz Fraser, Janette Bray takes on Kath Gordon, Gail Notman meets Jackie Fenty while Janie Kyle faces Mary Legge.
