Batley batter Gateshead

GARETH Moore smashed two club records as rugby league side Batley ran up the biggest win in their 130-year history with a 100-4 stroll at Gateshead in the Northern Rail Cup.

The Bulldogs, who had already qualified for the knockout stages, ran in 17 tries, two of them through scrum-half Moore, who also kicked 16 conversions to finish with a personal haul of 40 points.

That took him past Simon Wilson's previous club best of 13 goals kicked against Leigh in 1995 as well as the points-in-match record of 30 he shared with Wilson as Batley cruised past their previous best victory, an 82-4 success over London Skolars in the 2003 National League Cup.
