Bathgate keen to score first home win of season

The Super League continues apace this weekend with a huge game for Bathgate against Newtongrange Star.

Bathgate haven't won a home league game this season while Newtongrange couldn't buy a win despite playing some great football. Bathgate boss Graeme Love admits his season so far has been disappointing, saying: "It's been up and down so far, but we've been hindered by a small squad and some long-term injuries. This means I've been asking a lot from the players every week. Luckily though, in the past few weeks, we look to have turned the corner."

Elsewhere, Linlithgow look to continue their pressure at the top of the table with a win over Musselburgh at home. Musselburgh have struggled since August but manager Davy McGlynn is a wily boss who will have a game plan up his sleeve. Bonnyrigg, who have gone on a super run up the table, face the tricky task of beating Lochee United on their own patch.

In the Premier League, Broxburn find themselves in a terrific position just behind the league leaders.

Gaffer Steve Pittman is delighted with the progress so far. He said: "We face Ballingry at home on Saturday and again it's a massive game for us. We're delighted with what we've achieved so far this year but there's still a lot to do."

Arniston boss Brian McNaughton faces his old side Whitburn, who he guided to a Scottish Junior Cup win in 2000. Whitburn are a pale shadow of that side who lifted the cup all those years ago. However, Boss Mattie Coulter is gradually building a side who will fight for the club to the end. Penicuik are in Perth for the game against Kinnoull.

The South Division is once again a very tough league to fight your way out of. Tranent, who came so close in the past two seasons, find themselves looking at the top from a long distance down.

Manager Brian Johnstone sees an upturn in their fortunes now, however. He said: "I think we have turned the corner now. We are starting to get players back now after a lot of injuries. Last night we had a full turn out at training. So for us it's onwards and upwards from now to the end of the season."

Spartans face a tricky trip to Dunbar, who always give teams problems at New Countess Park. Livingston are at home to Haddington, who are blowing hot and cold this season.

Finally, Pumpherston have Dalkeith as their opponents with Dalkeith still on a high after beating Ballingry last week.
