Bathgate architects of their own downfall as Beath win

Bathgate crashed to a heavy defeat at the hands of Hill Of Beath with only themselves to blame.

Beath opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a goal from Barry Smith.

Craig Smart was through clear on goal but keeper Mark Lunn blocked his effort back out to him.

His second effort was knocked off the line by Willie Wilson for a corner. From the corner kick Smith rose above everyone to power the ball beyond Lunn and into the net.

On the half-hour mark Beath's Steven Bathgate crossed low for Craig Smart to knock the ball home for their second, and by that point the writing was well and truly on the wall.

On the stroke of half-time Alex Lurinski pulled a goal back for Bathgate but within five minutes of the restart Chris Seeley scored to restore Beath's two goal advantage.

Bathgate were awarded a penalty almost immediately when Chris Jeffrey was pulled down in the box.

However for the fifth time in a row they missed, when Chris Wilson's effort was well saved by Hall.

Steven Bathgate scored a fourth for Beath with ten minutes to go to seal the win.

The game ended on a sour note as Bathgate's Chris Wilson was red carded for a second booking.
