Bath expect battle with London Irish

Steve Meehan is well aware of the dangers London Irish could pose to his Bath team in tomorrow's Aviva Premiership clash at the Recreation Ground.

Both clubs secured bonus point victories during the Premiership's opening weekend, Irish beating Saracens 33-16 and Bath winning 32-16 at Leeds Carnegie. And Irish, beaten Premiership finalists in 2009, will arrive in the West Country with Bath head coach Meehan on full alert.

"London Irish pose threats all over the place," he said. "They will be difficult to break down, but we just have to be accurate and patient."

Elsewhere tomorrow, Premiership newcomers Exeter face a testing trip to champions Leicester buoyed by a top-flight debut win against Gloucester, but knowing Tigers will be bristling after losing to East Midlands rivals Northampton.

Harlequins host Northampton, while Leeds Carnegie, whose rugby director Andy Key and head coach Neil Back yesterday agreed contract extensions, visit Gloucester.

Round two of the Premiership campaign begins tonight when Newcastle host Wasps. The Falcons are back on home soil after a comprehensive opening weekend defeat against Sale Sharks, when they were punished for woeful indiscipline as Sale kicker Nick Macleod booted six penalties in a 5-18 win.
