Basketball: Scots must curb Jackson

SCOTLAND'S women basketballers face a demanding test when they play hosts Armenia in the semi-finals of the Euro C Championship in Yerevan tonight.

Led by the formidable American-born Amanda Jackson, who has averaged 21 points and six assists a game, Armenia won all three of their group games, two of them by wide margins.

Scotland on the other hand stumbled badly in their opening game, going down heavily to Malta, but recovered to beat Wales and finish second in their three-team group.

If they can find some way of marking Jackson and curtailing her shooting and distribution then they may have a chance.

Scotland's men are still not certain whether they will be without playmaker Laurie Costello for their trip to Malta tomorrow for the Euro C Championship, which begins on Monday.

Costello suffered knee damage in the first of two games against England last weekend and has been waiting for the swelling to go down.

He will have further physio today before a final decision.
