Basketball: Rockets post for Flynn

Former Blaze assistant senior men’s coach and cadet men’s coach Adrian Flynn has begun a new pro career in Germany as assistant coach at Gotha Rockets, a team in the Pro A German second division.

Sponsored by Gettinger beer and based in Thuringen, a town with a population of 45,000 in the former East German part of the country, Rockets were promoted at the end of last season and recently built a temporary 1500-seat arena.

“It’s a huge wrench to leave Blaze and all the players I’ve coached,” said Flynn, who also coached Edinburgh Lions and Edinburgh University.

In the same division are Heidelberg, coached by the former Mersey Tigers and Newcastle Eagles boss Tony Garbelotto.
