Basketball: Phoenix have high hopes

Powerful Polonia Phoenix open their Scottish League campaign away to newcomers Pentland Star at Broughton High School on Sunday (12.30pm).

Star, who fear they are short of height, were agreeably surprised to take their fair share of rebounds in their away debut 63-42 defeat against St Mirren at Linwood last Sunday but may be in for a torrid time against a Polonia team who are seldom accused of being vertically challenged. Edinburgh Kool Kats are without a game.
