Basketball: Hoops women in bronze bid

SCOTLAND'S women basketballers were playing off for the bronze medal against Moldova in the Euro C Championship in Yerevan today after losing 86-63 to hosts Armenia in the semi-finals.

US-born Amanda Jackson, proved to be the main difference between the teams, scoring 30 points for Armenia, who will meet Malta in the final.

Malta had a comfortable 85-57 win over Moldova in the other semi.

Scotland contributed to their own downfall with a miserable shooting performance, converting only two three-pointers from 18 attempts.

Natalie Chaloner (Glasgow Rocks) top-scored with 13 points, junior clubmate Erin McGerrachan adding 12 and Siobhan Moore (St Mirren) and Sarah O'Brien (Edinburgh Kool Kats) adding 11 each.

Scotland's top scorer from their win over Wales, Emma Findlay, scored none out of six three pointers, while clubmate O'Brien had two out of eight.
