Basketball: Flockhart’s trim and ready to go after his honeymoon

BACK in the side after a two-week break for his Florida honeymoon, Edinburgh Kings centre Simon Flockhart has warned his team-mates against any complacency when they face holders St Mirren in the second round of basketball’s Scottish Cup at Portobello High School tonight, tip-off 8.20pm.

“Saints will be hurting after losing at home to Kings in the league and being the cup holders they will want to progress through and defend their
trophy,” said Flockhart.

“It’s the first time I’ve missed two games in a row since joining Kings back in 2001,” claimed Flockhart.

“I didn’t put on any weight while away – I’m still a
trim 19 stone – and I’ve been working hard in practice since I got back to recover my game sharpness,” added the 6ft 9in centre.

Coach Doug Reilly is delighted not only to have Flockhart back but to have his strongest line-up of the season available.

“It’s the first time we’ve been all together though we’ll still be without Audrius (Ciapas).”
