Basketball: Flockhart urges Kings to keep it tight against Glasgow

Last Saturday's postponed Scottish Cup basketball tie may have been a blessing in disguise for Edinburgh Kings, who will have two key players, Simon Flockhart and Lee Reilly, back after injury for tomorrow's visit of high-flying Glasgow University at Portobello High School (1pm).

"I'm fit and raring to go to get our title defence back on track," said Flockhart, who was injured in Kings' first defeat of the season away to nearest challengers Falkirk Fury two weeks ago.

"We've a full complement of players available this weekend and we need to get back to playing solid team basketball," said the 6ft 9in centre. "That must start with intensity in defence," he added.

The visitors, who include several Lithuanian students, have been the shock team of the season so far, with two victories over Fury including knocking the Scottish Cup-holders out in the first round in Falkirk then later beating them in the league in Glasgow.

They will also be keen to erase the memory of their poor display at home to Kings in their first league encounter which the champions won by 60 points.

But Glasgow were without their English point guard Archer on that occasion and had forgotten their shooting boots.

If the Lithuanians, who include Julius Keliauskas, the brother of their national team's point guard, find their range, then tomorrow's game could be a whole lot closer.

Falkirk Fury are also in town this weekend, visiting East Lothian Peregrines at Musselburgh tonight (8pm).

Stirling Knights, impressive winners at Musselburgh last Friday, will seek to maintain their run at home to Glasgow Rocks tonight while Edinburgh Kool Kats are on the road tonight, away to St Mirren.
