Basketball: Edinburgh Kings ready to receive league trophy

EDINBURGH Kings will be presented with the Scottish basketball league trophy for the fourth time in a row, before their final home game of the season against Glasgow Storm at Portobello High School tomorrow.

Coach Danny Costello might be without three regulars tomorrow, centre Liam McCabe has a wrist injury, guard Mike Kirkpatrick has picked up a virus and Latvian forward Edgars Rekis has not played since suffering a broken nose against Troon Tornadoes last month.

"Mike was going for a blood test as I don't want to take any chances with him just before the Scottish Cup Final," said Costello.

Meanwhile, sister side Edinburgh Kool Kats, who like Kings are also through to the Scottish Cup Final, could be party-poopers at Cumbernauld on Sunday when the intention is to present the Scottish League trophy to Glasgow Rocks.

However, if Kats win then, technically at least, Rocks could still be caught for the title.

"This is not the game we're worried about – just as long as we win the Cup Final", said senior player Emma Findlay.
