Basketball: Debutant Randall Hanke helps Rocks to dull Thunder

BASKETBALL: In front of a capacity crowd at the Kelvin Hall, the Glasgow Rocks cruised to a 106-68 victory over Worthing Thunder last night.

The teams looked evenly matched in the first quarter, ending the opening phase tied 22-22. However, the Rocks took control in the second partly thanks to an excellent home debut from latest signing Randall Hanke who scored 23 points. He was outshone, however, by captain Rob Yanders who was in blistering form to take 25 points.

The win sets up the Rocks nicely for Thursday's Trophy quarter-final against Everton Tigers (tip-off 7.30pm).

Having not reached the last eight since 2005/06, the Scottish outfit will be hopeful of making their mark on this season's competition.
