Basketball: Clark keeps GB on track

Great Britain men scored another superb win in the Eurobasket qualifiers in Sarajevo last night, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 84-80 after being 48-41 down at half-time.

The Standard Life team are now unbeaten after three games and head home for two games in a row at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, against Ukraine on Saturday and Hungary on Tuesday.

Nate Reinkeng, with 21 points in total, coolly sank two free throws with four seconds left to ice the victory after the hosts closed the gap to one basket.

In the first half top-class shooting by Dan Clark, top-scorer with 23, kept Team GB in the game.

NBA stars Luol Deng, with 16 points, and Pops Mensah Bonsu, with 16 points and 13 rebounds, again stepped up in the second half to give coach Chris Finch a crucial victory on the road to next year's finals in Lithuania.

"This was a big win for us, we managed to grind out a result," said Chris Finch. "Bosnia did a good job on Luol and Pops and guys like Dan, Nate and Flinder (Boyd) really stepped up."

In the other game in the group last night Ukraine held on for a 80-71 home win over Hungary.
