Basketball: Anderson handed GB Euro call-up

Despite playing no competitive basketball over the winter as her eligibility had run out, Portobello's Rose Anderson has again been named in the Great Britain women's basketball squad to prepare for the European Championships in Poland in June.

Former Edinburgh Kool Kat Anderson joins Falkirk's Mairi Buchan as the only Scots in the squad of 16 who will assemble for training at Surrey Park on May 1 before playing in a Four Nation Tournament there from May 18-20 against Latvia, Germany and Cuba.

Anderson has been on a rowing scholarship at Oklahoma University while she finishes her exams, but has been able to train regularly with her former basketball team-mates and says she is "fit and ready to go for GB".

Buchan has also been sidelined this last season after injuring an ankle and chose to red-shirt in order to give the maximum attention to her rehab programme.
