Bairns snubbed as Miller asks to leave

FALKIRK are a step closer to losing promising striker Lee Miller after the 20-year-old handed in a transfer request.

Miller broke the news to the club shortly before jetting out with the team for a pre-season tour of the Czech Republic yesterday.

Aberdeen have already had a 175,000 bid rejected by the Bairns although the Dons are believed to have upped that offer to around 300,000 and the First Division outfit may now decide to accept that. Bristol City are also chasing his services.

Miller’s agent Mark Donaghy said: "Lee wants to play at a higher level but can’t move as he is under contract. That is why he put in a transfer request.

"It is now up to Falkirk to decide what to do. He flew out to Prague as we didn’t think it would do any good for him to remain here. Even if a bid is accepted, the deal can’t be finalised because he will be away for a week."

A Pittodrie spokesperson said: "We hope to conclude the transfer of Lee Miller this week.

"The club have offered Falkirk an improved bid for the player and have been promised an answer by close of business today."
