Bain one off pace in India

SCOTLAND’S Ross Bain made a strong start to the Indian Open, to lie just one off the pace set by home hero Chiragh Kumar.

Kumar, 27, shot a bogey-free eight-under 64, to sit one stroke ahead of a trio that included Bain, Zaw Moe of Myanmar and Lin Wen-hong of Taiwan.

Bain, who finished second in the Indian Open in 2001, birdied his opening three holes. He added another four birdies and an eagle but also had two bogeys.

“I got off to a fast start and started playing better as the round went on,” Bain said. “I’ve played here a lot over the years and it is nice to feel that I got the better of Delhi Golf Club.”
